Long Shadows-Winter Road

"Long Shadows-Winter Road"
© Nancy Laliberte
16' x 20" acrylic on panel
SOLD

This is a view from my parent's front porch in Reels Valley, just outside of Tomah in Monroe County, Wisconsin. There are a few other homes along this road, but I like the quietness of just the road and snow. Two of my brothers live at the bottom of this hill, one on each side; and another brother's house is near the woods in the upper left corner of the painting. Can ya see him up there? jk ;-)

Great News!

First the best news--today I celebrated nine years--yes, count them, nine years!!!--of being cancer free (breast cancer)! It is a glorious feeling and GOD is GREAT!!!

Now, on to more good news...
Two of my paintings were chosen for the 2010 "Winter's Garden" exhibit at the Riverfront Art Center in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The opening "Garden Party" reception is this Friday evening from 5-7 pm. If you live in the area, stop on by. It is a wonderful venue and always a beautiful show--gorgeous floral paintings and real orchid plants all on display. What a wonderful escape!

"The Garden of Life"
© 2009 Nancy Laliberte
20" x 24" acrylic on canvas
$600 framed

This painting was from plein air studies I painted of the individual flowers. I named it the Garden of Life because the yellow flowers (Heliopsis) represent sunshine and happiness--be happy every day. Cosmos (pink flowers) always look like they are reaching, hence; reach for the sky and be the best that you can be. The day lilies were chosen because they are only open for one day; lesson there: make the most of every day and make it count!

"Lavender Bouquet"
© 2008 Nancy Laliberte
8" x 6" acrylic on panel
$100 framed

This painting is pretty subdued compared to my usual palette, but it is all about trying new things and new color schemes. I will repost this photo as the this one was taken on the quick.

thanks for visiting and have a great day!

btw: be sure to check the "girls" each month, it could save your life...it did mine.

This poppy "portrait" was inspired by a summer walk through the Marathon County Historical Museum garden in Wausau, Wisconsin. My husband and I were married there so it is a special place to visit.

In The Morning

"In The Morning"
© 2009 Nancy Laliberte
10" x 10" acrylic on paper
$175 framed

This piece makes me think of the fresh start of a new day and heading to the lake. Perhaps that is wishful thinking in January with a temperature of 8 degrees! One can dream though, right? This will be the last of the tree lines for a while as I am working on some floral and garden-themed pieces. Stay tuned...

Afternoon Glow

"Afternoon Glow"

10" x 10" acrylic on paper
$175 framed

This piece primarily uses a complementary color scheme. It is interesting how everyone has his or her own emotional reaction to color. I really enjoy that aspect of painting--playing with color.

Happy New Year Everyone! It's been a fun and busy holiday spent with family and friends--lots of conversation and laughter, movie watching and snow shoveling!!! I didn't spend much time in the studio, but I sketched and worked on some other creative projects that needed completing. Now I am gearing up for a great year of making art. I have put together some goals to help keep me focused and accountable! And I am posting them, too! How is that for accountability?!!!

• Continue to update my blog regularly and post five paintings per week
• Draw/sketch 15 minutes daily
