“Things Are Looking Up”

Optimism despite the struggles;
Happiness instead of despair;
Hope for tomorrow while making the most of today;
The way I see it...
Things are Looking Up

I wasn't going to post this one for a couple more weeks, but I couldn't wait. And I see that my good friend Sharon Rotz posted her piece, too. It is a painting for the Center for Visual Arts Just for the Art of It "Art by the Foot" fund raiser to be held on May 14 at the Grand Theater's Great Hall on Arts Block in Wausau. We will be having close to 100 12"x12" pieces of artwork up for silent auction. Part of the fun is that the artist is only allowed to sign the BACK of his or her piece of art so that auction goers do not know whose art they are bidding on. (Shhh--don't tell anyone that you know this piece is the one I painted!) My friend Val Berkely and I are the co-chairs for this event and we are sooooo excited for the responses we have received from artists participating and from art lovers, as well.

Here is a link to the CVA web site for more information: http://www.cvawausau.org/specialEvents.html

Check out Sharon Rotz's piece for the auction. Her work is phenomenal! I won Sharon's piece from last year's auction. All I can say is, "Lucky, Lucky me!"

Farm and Field: Winter Light

6" x 6" acrylic on panel
SOLD

It is gorgeous outside here today (69 degrees!) and I am in the studio painting a winter scene? Call me crazy, but I was really itching to do another version of the farm I posted last week. In this piece the light was hitting right around 5 pm, just when I was picking up my daughter from her after school activities. I really like the contrasts of the warm earth tones and the cool blues. That is winter light.
Now get outside and play!

Farm and Field: September Afternoon

Anyone with a high schooler on Wausau's east side should recognize this. It's the view from the parking lot of Wausau East HIgh School. I love pulling into the drive to the school and seeing and noting the irony of this peaceful landscape and the bustling activity of the school.

I might add that there is a solar panel and a wind turbine to the left of this scene. It will be interesting to see how this landscape will look in 10 or 20 years.
