Vacation Palm

Hola! I just returned from a wonderfully relaxing winter getaway in Mexico. One week of major decisions such as should we lounge by the pool first or walk the beach? Strawberry or mango margarita? Pancho's, Cilantro's or Lapalapa's for dinner? Tough stuff, I know. I always bring some art gear with me, mostly because, I cannot not bring it. This plein air painting was done with a limited palette of ultramarine blue, cad yellow light, alizarin and white. In Kevin Macpherson's book, "Fill Your Oil Paintings with Light & Color," he talks about using a limited palette for plein air work. A limited palette keeps your gear to a minimum, and is a great way to work on color mixing.
