I am pleased to announce that two of my paintings have been juried into the 2015 Winter's Garden exhibition at the Riverfront Arts Center in Stevens Point, WI. This exhibit always draws a great crowd, and for good reason. It is a welcomed respite of warmth and color during the winter season. In addition to artwork, there are beautiful live orchid plant available for purchase. New this year is a "Sketching Botanica" class with artist Ann Singsass. What a great opportunity to sketch from life while learning from such a talented artist and teacher.

"Bring it On!" Winter Coping Skills - Artist Journal Pages by Nancy Laliberte

"Let it Snow"

It is only mid-November and we already have A LOT of snow. Instead of hibernating, (which isn't necessarily a bad idea, except you would miss out on some amazing winter beauty) I turn my creative journaling mojo up an extra notch or two to warm me up inside and out. It helps me TREMENDOUSLY to have fun playing with art supplies while letting anything and everything spill out while I am also filling my creative cup.

I've included a few of my "winter coping skills" art journal pages to encourage you to try creative journaling. Even if you live in a warm and tropical climate (journal savoring the sunshine), or will be sporting wool and fleece for the next six months (journal rejoicing you have some awesome wool socks and kick@$$ fleece), fill your creative cup with some art journaling.

You're still with me! Sweet! I love creative journaling and will be sharing my favorite journaling techniques in two upcoming workshops in Wausau, WI, and Stevens Point, WI. Now you do not need to have any artistic skills or prior experience in journaling for these workshops - just an open mind and a desire to have fun while playing with art supplies. The Wausau workshop is this Saturday from 10 am - 2:30 pm at the Center for the Visual Arts, downtown. There is still time to register - let Rose know by Friday - 715-842-4545. The second workshop is next Saturday, November 22, from 12 noon - 4 pm in Stevens Point, WI. Give Nancy a call at the Riverfront Arts Center to register - 715-343-6251. Additional details are on my website.

"Golden Days" original acrylic painting by Nancy Laliberte

 Golden Days
© Nancy Laliberte
4" x 4" x 1-3/8" acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas
sold

The midwest landscape of August is filled with such yummy color. I have been thoroughly enjoying the field patterns of golds and greens paired up with the beautiful skies we have been having (when it has not been raining), and punctuated with a few extra spots of color.

It reminds me of my childhood growing up on a Wisconsin farm and soaking up those last days of summer while running around barefoot with the cool grass under my feet, the golden sun warming my skin, and seeing all of the field patterns created by the hard-working farmers, my father included. These images are etched in my mind and in my heart. I love bringing them out with paint just as one might pull out a favorite photo album filled with pictures of the past.

Keep enjoying your summer, and be sure to spend some time running around barefoot in the grass before the snow flies ;)

Thank you for being a part of my art journey,
you are appreciated!

Continuing the exploration of barns and farms in the landscape. I am definitely not wishing for an early winter, but we have had some beautiful blue skies here lately which greatly influenced my color palette.

"Summer on the Farm" original painting by Nancy Laliberte

4" x 4" x 1-3/8" acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas
SOLD

A petite peinture of one of my favorite themes - barns and farms in the landscape. I never tire of exploring shape, color, and light in painting. I love asking myself questions throughout the process, "What if I put down transparent colors first..., what is that shape of color I see..., does that color lean towards red or blue..." It is wonderful to be inquisitive and ask questions along the way whether it is in painting, gardening, traveling, fixing things, you name it. You just never know what you may discover or where your next question will lead you. Being curious is a wonderful part of the journey.

"Simply Red" original acrylic painting by Nancy Laliberte

It has been very cold here in Wisconsin these last several days. I have had no desire to paint winter scenes when I would much rather be somewhere warm, so painting a bright, red tulip is a good start to thinking warm! This is a part of the 30 10 paintings in 30 days challenge. I started out January with the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge, and on day four I realized that with all of the other work and family commitments on my calendar, 30 paintings in 30 days was not realistic for me unless I wanted to forego sleep for most of the month. Not a good option when you need to be creative; I've learned the hard way on that one. So for now, I am going for 10 paintings in 30 days, and looking forward to continuing on from there.

Other great stuff that has been a part of this month:
• My painting, "Sun-Kissed Tulips" was juried into the Riverfront Arts Center's annual Winter's Garden show. That show runs until February 17, 2013.
• I launched two new art classes, "Art & Soul Creative Journaling," and "Playing with Paint." Both of which are ongoing, monthly classes. They are very fun and I am loving the opportunity to share my passions with others. Check out my website for more details.
• My yoga instructor and I have teamed up and are teaching a one day Yoga + Art workshop tomorrow (1/26) here in Wausau. Very excited to be a part of this workshop! I will post photos to my studio facebook fan page this weekend. And while you're at it, follow along by clicking "Like" while you are there.

I can't believe it is Friday already! I have been working on several paintings of all different sizes for gift gallery shows and Christmas commissions. If you have something special you would like painted, there is still time to make your request. Just email me at lalibertefineart@gmail.com to get your commission painting started.

In the meantime, pictured are two of several petite peintures that are available at Riverfront Arts Center in Stevens Point, WI. Tonight is their opening reception from 5 - 7:30 pm. All of their shows are wonderful and the Fine Art Gift Gallery show is no exception. The artists participating work hard to provide artwork at many price points making it easy to purchase uniquely creative gifts for everyone on your Christmas list. I love that! I will be there getting a head start on my shopping, and I would love to see you there, too. Plus, they always serve up some delicious food and drink.

To see more of my paintings available at Riverfront Arts Center, visit my studio facebook fan page of Nancy Laliberte Fine Art, and while you're at it (and if you haven't already), "Like" it so you can be in on the behind-the-scenes happenings in my studio and more.

Also taking place tonight is the opening to the "Form and Function" show at the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau. My artist friend and amazing fine art quilter Sharon Rotz is one of the artists participating in the show. Check out Sharon's blog and website to see the incredible work she does. The opening reception is from 5 - 7 pm. The CVA's gift gallery will also be open this evening for your holiday shopping.

I am excited to announce that both of my entries were juried into the Riverfront Arts Center "Visions XIV" show. This is an open-themed show featuring 2-D and 3-D work in all mediums and genres. Tonight is the opening from 5 - 7 pm. There is always a great turnout of artists (I will be there) so it is a wonderful opportunity to view and talk art, and just catch up with old and new friends.

The show runs from June 14 through July 29, 2012. The shows at the RAC are always outstanding and there are several other art galleries nearby, along with some great local restaurants.
