From a day of plein air painting in Marathon County, Wisconsin. The day was breezy with clouds moving in and out (mostly in), but still it was a great day to be painting. Midway through painting, a farmer went across this field with a tractor and wagon. Not longer after that, a flock of birds settled in for an afternoon snack.

This has been a terrific summer of plein air painting. Through trial and error I have whittled down my pleir air gear making it easy and convenient to just get out and go. While I have a wonderful half-box french easel that I enjoy using, I was looking to pare down even more. This summer, I have been primarily using my 6 x 8 Guerrilla Painter ThumBox. I can fit it, my paints, brushes and other supplies all in my backpack, and then carry my tripod. I don't have an umbrella for it yet, so I try to set up in shade whenever possible. It has been great for travel, too.
