This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to plein-air paint at Ovans Peony Farm, located about 25 miles from my studio. It is so beautiful there! I had a great time painting (seriously, who wouldn't?!). Thank you, Michelle and Mike!

Definitely a perk to my job - a blissful day of plein-air painting peonies!

I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. I know I am thankful for so much, and YOU, my friend, are definitely on the list. Thank you for being a part of my artist journey! I appreciate you!

I am pleased to have my art in several holiday shows this season. I've included several of the paintings currently available at the Center for Visual Arts in Wausau, WI. If you are in the Wausau area, stop in and take a look. They have wonderful gallery spaces and an amazing gallery gift shop. Or, if you prefer to armchair or cyber shop, give them a call and purchase over the phone. Rose, Krista, and the rest of the staff would love to help make your shopping an enjoyable experience.

"Good Morning" original oil painting by Nancy Laliberte

Back in Door County! On this day my painting friend Jane Barnard and I were up before sunrise and painted the changing sky as the sun rose and touched the tips of the trees across the shore, and the clouds lifted and moved onward. It was beautiful, enchanting and mesmerizing.

For this piece I kept the canvas white and focused on color notes (shapes of color) and worked quickly to capture what was happening and what I was feeling. It was a blast!

Celebrating Summer with a Plein Air Paint Out

This weekend the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau is opening a plein air exhibition titled "Celebrating Summer" featuring paintings by members of the group, Plein Air Painters of America. in addition to the opening reception on Friday evening, the weekend will also include a plein air paint out event downtown on Saturday and at the Woodson on Sunday. I am excited to have been invited by the Woodson to be a part of this event along with several other Wisconsin artists and some of the exhibiting artists from the show. If you are in the area, come and See for yourself what plein air painting is all about. There will also be an opportunity to view the artwork from the paint out on Saturday evening in a tent on the Museum grounds. Everything the Woodson does is first-class, and they have been working very hard behind the scenes putting this event together.

Here is a link to the Woodson for more information about the show and other museum activities.

Lovin' the Summer

It appears as summer has finally arrived in north central Wisconsin so I have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather and getting in some plein air painting with area artist friends. I love seeing the color and light on whatever I am painting and being outdoors--all a win-win.

A work in progress shot of the entryway to the church office at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church. St. John's has a wonderful courtyard and it was delightful to paint there.

There are several churches all within a couple of blocks from each other, and at noon several of the church bells chimed, including one that played hymms. It was pretty special.
