It appears as summer has finally arrived in north central Wisconsin so I have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather and getting in some plein air painting with area artist friends. I love seeing the color and light on whatever I am painting and being outdoors--all a win-win.

  

A work in progress shot of the entryway to the church office at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church. St. John's has a wonderful courtyard and it was delightful to paint there. 

There are several churches all within a couple of blocks from each other, and at noon several of the church bells chimed, including one that played hymms. It was pretty special.

It's funny when something is on your radar--mine being iris' this week--every where you look, there they are! Looks like I am not the only one who enjoys this flower. ;-)

I am having a blast painting irises this week. This is the second in a series from my June 2nd post. If you remember back in my June 4th post, I mentioned that it was looking like my iris plants were finally going to flower. And, guess what? They are blooming! And I am painting them.

You just never know when inspiration will strike. Take for instance, folded laundry. I walked into my bedroom the other day and noticed the lovely color harmony of my folded laundry. So what is an artist to do? Use that color scheme in a painting, of course.
